Hi new to the site i was driving on the interstate this past Friday and my expedition just quit would not turn over had it towed home first replaced the battery starter clicked but engine wouldnt turn over so purchased and replaced starter still wont turn over. Today i pulled the radiator fan and shroud put a breaker bar and socket on the crank shaft pulley and the engine is seized? Now the oil is always changed on time and checked weekly as well as all other fluids it gave no warning no weird sounds nothing just as if you parked and turned the key off. I took the serpentine belt off thinking the power steering ,alternator or the a/c compressor might have seized but all were fine im puzzled hoping some one the site might give a clue whats wrong or what to do next. thanks ike50
Yes i can pull the plugs and check there is none on the oil stick i checked that but thats not reliable cause you can have water in the oil as it floats and will fool you. im thinking about tearing it down myself i was going to start removing the valve covers and taking the acsessories off to remove the timing cover to check the chains and tensioner guides to see if it jumped time and possible piston and valve contact hope not ive worked on many old school ford engines but never a modular engine there is many more components to remove.
