Hub issue?

2005 4x4. With trans in park and t-case in 2H and all four tires off the ground I can spin the driver front wheel freely, but the passenger front is locked. Is that normal?

Well we started the engine with it on the lift and then both wheels free spin. So I guess it's working. Odd...

It depends on the level of vacuum you have remaining on that wheel . There are check valves to keep vacuum . Each side may leak some but with truck off ,vacuum isn't very reliable. 2wd requires vacuum to be on at actuator to keep from spinning front axles . If you lose vacuum it defaults to 4x4 on front , however your trans axle is not engaged .

The solenoid on the firewall intentionally vents vacuum for 4wd operation. So if engine is running and you're in 2hi both IWE's should be disengaged. In 4hi they should both lock in within a few seconds.

If one is stuck in 2hi, it's sticky. You can easily pull the wheel and the vac line and test at the knuckle with a vac pump. They should disengage at... 7hg?? It's in the IWE sticky at top of forum.
