Hammer in zerks? Never heard of such a beast. Is there a blanked off opening where they get installed? I'm old school when it comes to greasing joints

I'll look again, but almost certain the only zerks on my 22' F450 are on the u-joints.

Edit: This truck does have zerks on the front end.

23 SRW I've been under my truck a lot and I haven't found a zerk yet. Not certain how I feel about that. I'm really used to maintaining that stuff myself.

I just greased my 22 F450 yesterday. 9 zerks total. Upper/Lower Ball joints each side (4), outer tie rods (2), axle shafts (2), and pitman arm connection.

Just curious, F450 pickup or cab/chassis? There used to be some differences in the front ends.

You are correct, I must have been thinking about a different truck, possibly my '17 F-350 SRW.

Give me a tip on how you were able to grease the upper ball joints. I tried four different grease guns/hoses/fittings and could not get on the zerk. I turned the axle shaft in several different positions and tried running the grease gun hose through the middle of the u-joint, no luck. Is there such a thing as a 90 degree grease gun fitting that might work?

It is a pickup.

No zerks on '22 F-350

I have not seen any grease zerks on the front end of my '22 F-350 SD. I wore out a steering component at 26k miles already. It's back to bouncing/shaking again at 37k miles.

I'm not impressed with the 17+ SD front end much. It bounces over every little ripple and handles like a pig on rough road. The only thing that helped was lowering the air pressure in the tires.

I'm pretty sure that upgrades are in my future now that I'm at 37k miles. I'm just waiting on that magic ingredient. 💰 I've had both a '20 and now a '22 F-350. I won't be buying a GM look alike FORD. So NO to a '24. I'll hang on to this one a few years if it holds together.

Let's see if FORD puts Blue Cruise on the SD and redesigns the front suspension. Then they can get rid of the GM copycat useless holes in the bed.

Tight fit zeros:
If the zerk points up, there is a “slide over the top” attachment for your grease gun. Fits into the “end” of the gun/hose without removing anything.
If zerk and Les towards you, there is a “needle” attachment for your grease gun. You press/hold the point up against the tiny opening in the zerk. Also fits int the end of hose/gun. This needle can work for the up pointing zerks also- if you have the room.

Ditto. This is the worst riding truck I’ve ever been in. The front suspension has 2” of travel before striking the bump stops. Idiotic. And I have worn out linkage somewhere at 80k miles because I feel the looseness and pop in the steering wheel when I go over bumps. Dealership is inspecting that for me later this week. The GM trucks do ride a lot better, but what surprised me during my shopping is that even the Ram trucks blow Ford away in the ride quality/suspension design department.

Eventually I'll go all aftermarket to try and improve things so it doesn't kill my kidneys driving to work every morning.

.
Do you have a 2 wheel drive? My 22 F350 DrW has zerks, one on each side of the front axle.

Like these. You just drill a 3/16" hole and pop them in. With the wheel off, the lower ball joint was easy to do.

I'll get a picture of it. Are these zerks 1/4" screw in? If so, I could replace the upper ball joint zerk with a 45 degree fitting.
