There is a lot located in Garland TX (where I grew up) they hasve a lot of conversions done for customers. A lot of sports players and such. They do great work and are very easy to work with over the phone. My uncle bought on that way and was very pleased.
They post a vin number you can spend about $100 to research it. If it saves you a couple of grand then it would be worth the reasearch.
I have had all good experiences buying on ebay. I purchased a Jeep and have sold a motorcycle and a snowmobile and everything worked well. There are things to consider however... shipping costs for one. I'd certainly make a lot of inquiries to the seller before you make your final bid.
I bought a car on Ebay, with little problems. Im in NY the car was in NC, guy picked me up at the airport and he described it perfectly, all in all it was a really good expierence.
Like the others said, do your research, ask any and all questions no matter how small it may be.
I bought mine using eBay. Had to drive to Indianapolis (of all places) to pick it up. No problems whatsoever - I'd do it again in a minute. Just be careful and ask a lot of questions. If the vehicle is not as described, don't buy it.
I've been wondering about the TX/FL phenomenon too....
A lot of retirees buy the trucks and travel to Texas or Florida. They get down there and decide to stay. Or one passes away and the remaining spouse sells off the whole rig for a song. Happens here in AZ as well. The trucks and RVs for sale are everywere! If you really want a good deal check out the auto pawn shops in Las Vegas. People gamble them away all the time.
I got my 03 PSD from E-Bay under the same retiree situation. Truck only had 7500 miles but it saved me $17K and came fully loaded. ( Took me a week of driving with the windows down to get rid of the Preparation-H smell!)
But I agree, read every line over and over, ask a billion questions. Don't accept it if it isn't as advertised.
Well, I'm selling my '59 on E-Bay right now, and it's a GREAT truck. It's item # 2443489035 in case anyone's interested. I also just won a bid for some Hella 450 amber fog lights. Complete kit w/ wiring, illuminated switch, rock covers and all mounting hardware for $48 w/ no S&H (retail is $100 + S&H).
