About a month ago i noticed when i put my truck into reverse , the RPM's would drop and the Powerstroke seemed like it wanted to die. Very odd for a truck that only has 6,000 miles on it. So i took it to the dealer and they said it was something with the computer , they adjusted something , and the truck was fixed. They also mentioned that if the same problem arose again , a new trans. would be in order.
Fast forward to yesterday, 5/14/02 . I take the track back to the same dealer and the same tech guy becasue the reverse thing is happening again , this time worse than before. The same tech scans my car and says that their is a aftermarket computer program in the truck, and they can't do any warranty work ! They also say that becasue the truck has a flowmaster muffer , and a bosst gauge that they can't touch it...I am not a idiot , and i know they have to prove that these aftermarket items cause the damage to the trans , whatever it may be.I am so fed up with this dealership , and Ford as a whole. I have had my truck for 6 months now and have had nothing but problems, from the certified Diesel tech putting regular 10w-30 in my truck the first oil change , to my truck leaving the factory with only one signal mirror.
So basically i am waiting to hear back from the dealer today on weather they are going to fix the truck or not. If they say no - a war is going to arise outta this. I have allready called Ford directly about this , and to add on to my complaint list about this dealership , and about how they treat a 22 year old kid who just spent close to $50,000 of his own money on a truck...
Stick with the Ford and to your guns. See what they have to say at the dealer and if nothing is done then see what Ford Motor co will do. If still nothing take to another dealer. I've had this problem with Nissan so i ended up going to another dealer and have been happy since. Being that these morons put the wrong oil in your truck and also the truck came with the mirror mishap im sure the Ford motor company let alone the dealeship you purchased this from doesn't want you to insight the lemon law or contact the local News or News papers to tell them of there great service they gave you. I hope this helps.
Don't let one problem turn you on a brand. I am not brand loyal because the brand is not loyal to me or anyone else. I look for the best product at the time. If that product is a Ford and you have sworn off of them the you will have to buy a compramise product and might regret it.
I was just messing around with the last comment. Actually , i have always been a Chevy guy. But when i first laied eyes on the current Superduty/Excursions i was sold. I actually love my truck , and wouldnt give it up for anything currently on the road , except for a F-650 Supercrewzer. So i am a Ford guy when it comes to trucks - and a Chevy guy when it comes to cars, old cars that is.......
