I found what I think is a highboy but it’s a dually I’m looking to do a swap on my 2wd body and want to know if it’s actually a highboy,
from what I can tell it’s a highboy but I’m not sure and if it is hopefully I can just find a non dually Dana 60 and swap it out
It does appear to be a Highboy, but.....there are much better options out there for a starting point. It looks rough and modified. If its a pre 76 it will have a closed knuckle drum brake front axle. If I was doing all that work, I'd want the 76/77 open knuckle disc brake axle. Just think it through what you are getting in to in cost and effort. They were such heavy trucks it was not too uncommon to convert them to dually.
X2 on all he said. Yes that is a rough start for a project. Are the rear leaf springs 2 1/4 wide? If so then it is a HB. Is the xfer case divorced (not attached to the transmission) ? Then its a HB. Does it have 3 drive shafts? ....HB
Thanks, yea I figured it was a highboy because of that stuff but I just wanted to know because I could get a Dana 60 and just swap it out and put my other body on because the body on it now is not even worth trying to save
There were a few of those weird things around here about 20 years back, I robbed some parts from some of them at a junk at one time, Near as I could tell marmon harrington did something like that and also transaxle of colorado had some retro fit stuff I have laid my hands on, or like said before, could be a homeowner special.
