I was very interested in camp stoves at one time and belonged to a forum based in Britain that was dedicated to all kinds, Classic Camp Stoves. It absolutely blew me away that in the UK they would have meets, just like we have Truckstocks, where they would sit around and fire up their stoves. Nothing else! (well, maybe beer drinking)
I think the problem was burning leaded gasoline in the stoves. Now we have unleaded and can get ethanol free gasoline. I think back in the day Amoco was used. The stoves are listed as dual fuel, meaning Coleman fuel or unleaded gasoline. I think the Coleman fuel has additives to make it have shelf life longer.

Dennis, I remember we would go to Garman's Garage in Halfville to buy white gas. They sold Amoco. I think my dad needed it for our Lawnboy.
My Grandparents had 2 of the gigantic coleman farmhouse lights. Mom still uses one of the green lanterns if power goes out in the winter since it heats so good. Walmart has fuel here and the hardware stores. Amish here also.
Some more Coleman stuff at the cabin. The little can of fuel is 1 quart. The light has never been used, the box is dated 2006. Dianne’s dad got these too. All of the Coleman stuff her dad left to us.
We love to go camping, I’m so glad Dianne’s a camper. Some years ago we were camping at R B Winters state park and while walking around at a site was a 3 burner Coleman gasoline stove. No one was at the site so I couldn’t talk to them about it. Only one I’ve seen so far.
I finally got around to looking at my old stove. I guess it's not that old, there's no numbers under the handle but there is a bigger sizer set of numbers on the back center. They are about a 1/2" tall, and I or 1 then a 79.
I think I can see another set of smaller numbers but the paint or powder coating makes them hard to read.
Oh yeah, it's dual fuel stove.
