So new to me RV 1995 E350 chassis was running badly did tune up and fixed vacuum leaks but still has slight miss when driving, notice mostly on highway.
decided to check the two other things that come up the most on the internet.. ICM and ECU/PCM, ICM looked fine and is correct black unit for CCD engine.
ECM/PCM on the other hand has problem, unbolted the connector and pulled it off and one pin came out of the ECU side with the connector..
opened unit up and Capacitors all look good (brown colour not the blue ones I’ve seen in posts)
but the back side of connector socket has a mass of green corrosion around the bottom (As it sits in firewall) two rows of wires out of board and into the connector where the pins are.
Pin that came out is bottom most on drivers side and by the looks of it the only way to repair this would be to de-solder the connector off the board and install another connector, or find reman unit.
need the RV for last week of month so looking at the reman as best option for now and get this one fixed as spare when have time.
I’m in Canada just up from Washington so can access part stores like O’Rileys but my unit is F5TF12A650-AKA and O’Rileys lists F4TF-AKA and F5TF-ALA and F5TF-BLA and they all fit my E350 and are plug and play and reasonably priced.
Now big online store Flagship One lists my exact part F5TF-12A650-AKA and I will need to send Vin to have it programmed to my vehicle.
where are most people getting Remans these days and do I need it programmed?
There is no programming on this vintage vehicle. The canned ads from the retailers are bogus that does not apply.. The key details to look at are ensuring the engineering number/catch code matches.
It is plug and play with the right numbers on the processor
If using a different calibration it might run but with a check engine lamp on, shift funky or just about anything else wrong
So, get the exact numbers
Reprogramming started in 1996 with OBD2
