I have heard some replace the relay with a different type which is better built and more reliable. Is that what you are talking about? Or do you mean using another relay somewhere on the truck?
I found what I was looking for on a different thread. has taken all morning to find it. Some guys are getting rid of the GP relay and running the wires to the AIH relay as long as the AIH has been deleted.
Ya shattered, i have mine routed to the...whattaminute. I routed my AIH wires, over to the gp relay. Or switch the aih relay, since i gutted that system.
Are you trying to activate your glow plugs manually? I think what your refering to with the aih relay is guys using it as a back up if the GP relay goes out since its just sitting there if the aih has been deleted.
Yeah stinson, that is what I was thinking. I got a relay from a place just over the mountain from me and it's funky looking. I'm not much on electrical, so I just managed to get myself confused. I'll see if I can post a pic of it.
I'm with you on electronics,I still have a long way to go. I'm sure I read threads or posts of guys doing just that, using a manual switch. They will chime in I'm sure. Why not just do the LED thing for the glow plugs. The relays don't go bad that often, and you can use the aih as a spare in a pinch. For me I'd worry I'd leave it on unless its on a momentary switch. I'm bad at leaving things on. Anyway the pcm does a good job of controling them.
ya man, my electronic skillz suck ****. The led light helped out greatly though. Told me that my gpr was bad. Found a thread about what wires from the aih/gp relay, coinside to their respective post, and bam, led lit up again.
STANCOR my next purchase. i wouldnt try the one in ur pic.
