My new fuel pump is not getting fuel to the carb
its mounted correctly but it was ont send fuel to the carb. Will it help to charge the tank with air pressure to help move the fuel
it's a 1977 4.9l 300ci
Yes, I have heard that many of today's mechanical pumps need help getting primed. Even though they should be self primed. May want to check if your line going back to tank is plugged or may have a hole in it preventing if from priming.
When rebuilding my 81 F100, cab off frame, I wanted to run the motor off a can on the inner fender and could not pull fuel?
Thinking the pump went bad from not running for a few months so went new pump.
Guess what, yet still would not pump from a gas can in the inner fender?
Thinking the long hose clamp at the pump was not sealing I used 2 clamps, still not pumping.
I then switched from a 3/8 hose to 5/16 and 1 clamp it would now pull fuel!
So even with 2 clamps the 3/8 hose would not seal at the pump.
I am guessing your truck takes 5/16 hose too and if using 3/8 try 5/16 hose.
