Good morning Tim.
Debating on whether I should buy two used tires now or wait until the engine is replaced. I'm getting tired of seeing the right rear go flat.
Found a place that will sell two tires for $40 each. I'll go down on Monday, as he has minimum hours on Sunday, and I can't make it there before he closes. truck isn't going anywhere anyway.
Just out of curiosity, I decided to "buy" four Falken tires from Tire Agent. They have a "no money down" payment option. So, I chose the four tires I wanted, which were listed at $219 each. And then clicked on payment plans. After a few minutes of giving my name SSN and phone number, I get three offers. Cheapest one was $144 a month for 13 months. I click on the details and find out I would pay $1,872 for four tires. I read the fine print, and they are charging 144% interest! I decided I don't need four brand new tires that bad. LOL I will wait until after the engine is replaced, and then save my money until I can pay the $219 cash price.
Sounds like a good plan. 144% is a lot! Put a few bucks away each month and by the time the engine gets installed you will have some cash to deal with.
My truck is strange. I drove it three miles to the tire shop and found out that both my right-side windows will not go down. When I first bought it all four worked. but the second time I started it up at the seller's house the passenger front window would not work. I tried the buttons on my door and the passenger door. Nothing. This morning, I tried rolling down the right rear window and it won't go down. Only the two left side windows go down. However, on the way back I tried using the AC and found out it works. It didn't work when parked at the seller's house. Go figure. maybe because it had been sitting in the sun too long and the interior was too hot, and I didn't give it enough time to cool down. I don't know, but I am very happy it is working now.
This is the side that had the slow leaking tire. This one looks ten times better, and only cost me $50. I bought two, so now I won't need tires for a while. BTW, the engine did not act up the entire trip. The CEL came on instantly after starting though, so no trip to the smog test station was made.

Gooooood Moring Nor Cal! I am on my way to getting a engine for the truck. Went to my first Bible study of the week (there are three more left this week. LOL) and came back with $130 for my engine fund. Going to put that in the bank first thing tomorrow morning. I have another one tonight, and already have 3 more people going to donate. God is good!
Up to $254 in my engine fund. Someone else at church donated $100! This keeps up I'll have enough for the engine in no time. Then I'll need to work on getting the $$$ for the labor.
