Hey guys just wanted to know about cam bearings. Im building a390 for my 67 F-100 4X4.And the cam bearing has a gouge that goes from the front side to the backside of the bearing. It goes right through wear the oil hole is at. Is it ok to still us it this way?
Thanks Scott
if it's an actual gouge or scratch and not an oil channel of some kind i'd replace it . if something scratched or gouged it that usually means there's raised metal around a scratch and i'd be on the safe side and replace it as you would'nt want to have to fix it later.............
i did mine in my old 360 and ended up with a couple cocked started to wear in no time. replace all of them and have someone with the installation tool to do it. they don't cost much, for what they protect, and installation isn't that much. seems like i paid 15.00 for installation on anouther motor.
Thanks bikerwolfie
But i found out what the trouble was.Its supposed to be that way just that it looked like some one hit it though.Just that the way they are made.
Thanks
When I replaced my cam bearings, the front bearing had the groove you are talking about to allow the oil to get on the oil slinger to oil the timing chain.
