No paint for this boy. I'm leaving mine aluminum top to bottom. They can't see it from the lane next to you, and after you smoke the first guy the secret is out anyway. Might as well show what you got.
I wish I could afford an aluminum block. I wouldn't paint it if I could. I might polish it but no paint. I wouldn't use a 390 crank if I had one. What is $700 more for a 4.25 SCAT crank and another $800 for some custom forged rods and $500 for some pistons. Carrol shelby made that block and wanted to run 1500HP through it via forced induction to break his 0 - 100 - 0 record. It is not just for weight reduction. It is much stronger than the original 427.

New to 427's? Unused original Ford iron 427 side oilers blocks commonly go over $5000.00 on ebay.
The Shelby block is aluminum with replaceable dry sleeves, bores out to 4.44", has reinforced valley area, double cross bolted mains, supports strokes up to 4.5" and will handle 1500 plus HP. It is also quite comparable with other aluminum blocks of comparable features price wise.
$$$ are the reason that 427s are so rare, and are spoken of in hushed tones and awe!
