Hey guys, what wattage? 1000 or 1500? my B.heater went out so I had a new one installed, and I messed up I didnt check to see what wattage it was before I had it replaced. My Bad. I would've installed it myself but its already in the low teens to single digits here in Idaho and I don't have a shop. Anyway my truck doesnt start as easy as it used to and it isnt below zero yet!
Not sure what factory wattage is. Sorry. Mine has not gone out yet. Some one should know and let us both know. I probably will be replacing mine in the next year or so since I leave mine plugged in all the time. I like warm feet too
Elkslayer1, Scott_Fisher posted the readings for volts and ohms. As far as wattage, I don't know. But if you got a new element installed I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't leave it plugged in all the time. (My advice) Get a timer with several points and plug 'er up! Besure to wrap the cord you hook the truck up to, to the drivers side mirror. Then you'll remember to unplug it. By the way, it was 68 here today!

Horsecop, That is a DAMN GOOD idea as I have forgotten to unplug more than a few times myself ! for the past few years i have been using a timer, you just have to remember when your power goes out to reset your timer! hehehehe. Awwwwe 68 degrees, those were the days!
73 tomorrow I saw how cold it was going to get in Billings. I saw your post on the air systems. Real quick, there is a heavy duty filter housing out now, but I can't rember were I saw it. Try the search engine for it and any other tech questions. This site is the best I've seen for support.
I do have voltage to the block heater, so I guess the element has burned out. That isn't in stock, so more waiting. About the plug in timers- where can I get a heavy duty, grounded timer. Even in Sears, all they have are timers with 2-prong plugs. I have a bunch of those in the house, but they are really only useful for plugging a light into (or are they?).
I am also working on an exhaust brake install. Anyone know what the difference is between the EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve) and the wastegate? Where is the wastegate located?
Originally posted by petes4x4 I also have a magnetic oil pan heater that works as good as the block heater. I also have a pre-luber so the oil heater helps with that.
Where did you het the magnetic oil pan heater? how much?
the magnetic heater was bought at napa. I forget how much but it was araund 20 or 30 bucks. The pre-luber is an oil pump that starts when you key the ignition and i builds up oil preasure before you start the engine. Then when you shut the truck off it starts again to pump oil through the engine to cool the turbo down.
