Angry Headers for 460 bbf

Where can a guy buy 2” primaries, long tube headers for a 460 bbf with Edelbrock Performer heads?
not having much luck sourcing for a 1978 Ford F-250 4x4 with 11” of lift

I would suggest fenderwell exit, instead of inside the frame rail exit.

With that much lift you certainly have the room for long tube equal length headers with 2" primaries that exit the fender wells. You'll want to make sure that the vendor is aware of this. They also need to know about the Edelbrock heads just in case Edelbrock moved the exhaust ports away from stock location. The Edelbrock heads for my FE mimicked the 427 medium riser heads so the exhaust ports were 1/8" higher than stock. My header design assumed stock so I had to modify the header flanges to better match the heads. Also, there are vendors who will custom fab headers for you but that, understandably, can get a little spendy.

Thanks Flowney, i was able to source through Mad Dog. As it turns out, the new engine for my truck was dyno'd with 2 1/4" primaries test headers but Mad Dog's headers that are 2 1/4" are too large for my Edelbrock Performer heads. I'm going with 2" primaries which will fit.

I did that once with a429 heads and it was a tire salesmens best friend, Blew the ring and pinion out the back cover, broke a C6 bell housing, tore the motor mount stud from the frame tower cracking the frame totally flattened a broader performance torque converter (which he had told me on the phone that NO BODY had ever broken that converter running pump gas) and it would shear the ears right off a u-joint if you nailed it, you had to ease into the carburetor. I think the power level with 2" headers will give you enough power to twist the truck into a knot. if you put a little salt on it you will have a pretzel.

Sounds painful/expensive Warhorse!. My build is 521ci (584HP, 629TQ) 627TQ at 3500rpm. Should be enough to pretzel a few parts.

Reading all of that actually made me happy that my engine made a little less power than I expected it to.

mine was a 545 with a429 heads and 11.2 (+/-) cr and a comp flat tappet cam, l&l headers that were only 1.75" primary I think and a weind stealth. and with a 3310 holley it was absolutely terrifying. When I installed a 850 mechanical, It became out of control. would just slip 2nd gear in a c6 the band would not hold, I upgraded servos 2 times and servo struts once, and at that time, the old trans builders told me to quit because a c6 servo will clamp so hard it will break the case because I had already boosted the pump to the danger zone to try to enhance clamping force. Cracked one pump, then backed it down a little. tore the center out of a flex plate with a 460 before the stroker so I bouhght a certified flex plate for the 545, the 460 may have damaged that converter but the flex plate proved to be the weaker.
