My 2022 F-350 6k miles received some substantial hail damage last Thursday. The hood, roof and tonneau cover are trashed. Platinum chrome around windows is dented, roof ditch molding is broken and every planet has small dents except the tailgate. No light or windows were broken and surprisingly my pano glass roof held up. The truck is star white and I really don’t want to have it repainted. I had some minor damage 2 years ago to my 2020 f150 and now see bubbling paint/ aluminum where the repair was done. I plan on keeping my SD for a while and want to make sure this repair is done properly. I was thinking maybe paint less dent removal on the panels, but I don’t think this is possible with the hood and upper door frames. I really don’t want a lot of filler on the truck. Anyone with experience in handling a hail damage repair that may have some wisdom? Thank you
The problem here is Ford's aluminum alloy (aka Military Grade) body panels requires a good bit of heat and labor time for a PDR to remove the dents, but is probably your best bet. These guys can really surprise you on their work.
I had a new F 150 back in 2011, 1200 miles and it got hailed on, hail was quarter size or bigger.
Had paint less dent removal, and was very happy with the way it turned out. I don't think anything can be done with the damaged trim, except to replace it.
My mom's 2 year old suburban was totaled by USAA from hail damage just on the roof and hood. Lucky you had a panoramic roof that held up. I arrived to a boondocking spot 2 weeks ago to find out the weather had changed from partly sunny and 80s to 60s and a chance of 2" hail. I stared out the window until the black clouds completely passed. I cannot replace my 2022.

Hail damage always suxs, I feel for the OP.
This was from a few days ago at our boondock spot.
"16" took some dings and broken passenger side door visor but no broken windows and no damage to the 5th wheel platic vent covers or solar panels.
Had another storm come through last night with luckily only pea size hail.
Any heavy damage, like scraprats^, is gonna stretch the metal so much you need to replace the panel. No reputable shop is gonna try mudding something like that. Replacing roofs, cab panels and bedsides is major surgery, which is why most stuff gets totaled. Paintless dent removal isn't gonna fix it, might make it look "better" but it'll always have ripples to it. that
Hail damage on every panel? Sorry but that sounds like it’s going to be totaled out. What did your Insurance company say?
With the damage you described I’d agree this sounds like a possible total. I know adjusters that could/would. May depend on your insurance company and what you want them to do though. I’ve seen plenty of them at auction with similar damage.
Even with the best repair it won’t be the same and PDR probably won’t get everything perfect although it’s amazing what they can do. If you don’t like the way it turns out and you reject the repair enough times they’ll pay you for the truck and send it to auction anyway.
Your concern is understandable with the truck this new.

Interesting you said that. Our local Ford dealer experienced a hail storm recently and most of the vehicles hoods suffered pretty good hail damage. I was back on that same dealer lot a couple weeks later and they all appeared to have been fixed which was a bit surprising to me. I would say they suffered maybe 50% less damage than scraprats truck
Thank you for the replies, I appreciate your thoughts. I have filed a claim and have a body shop appointment this afternoon. Fenders/doors and box sides are all small dents that I think could be PDR, but some places like upper door/window frames they can’t get to. The hood has some pretty deep dents.
I think we'll see this at Copart in a few weeks to be honest
Very possible unless the OP pushes for repair instead just to keep the truck. Or do a buyback and repair it which could be a financial advantage but not sure if the title process which their state or insurance company.
it’s not a good time to total one and replace it even that new. If you can find a new platinum for sale it probably won’t be a reasonable price and ordering a 24 could take a while. You may find a dealer to give you a good price but it will still be a good bit more than the 22 cost.
I experienced golf ball sized hail a few months ago that even broke the windshield in my work vehicle (Dodge Charger). My wife’s 2017 explorer had to have the hood replaced but my truck faired much better and all the dents were pulled. I couldn’t tell a difference from before and after. Insurance covered everything but it was quoted 16k for the explorer, 16k for the charger and 6k for the truck.

A 17-22 covered in hail damage will still look better than a 23/24, so not replaceable at any price.
