Hello all !!
I just completed a 5 year long process of restoring my 1979 F150, the only thing missing is a decent front grille shell for it.
I went thru all the manufacturers and distributors like Dennis Carpenter, LMC, JBG, Ebay, etc ..... no one has anything left in stock...
Would anyone have a clue on where currently those could be found ??
Thanks for the input.
Jegs says they have it in stock but it’s a AMD one and AMD says they are out of stock so maybe call Jegs. AMD does have the chrome steel version in stock.
You could strip the anodizing off an oem one and restore/polish it. It’s hard to find someone who will anodize it again for you cause of its size though.
Dennis Carpenter has had intermittent stock over the last year or so. I just purchased one from them back in April. NPD also stocks the DC grille shell and they have had stock as well, but are currently out of stock. NPD is slightly more money than DC, but just barely.
They usually go quick, so be ready to pull the trigger when you see them in stock. Good luck.
Thanks,
I will try to call Jegs on Monday morning.
I temporarily stripped the old anodizing and polished the grille to have it nickel plated because no one seems to do bright anodizing (or bright dip) anymore.
Obviously the color tone of the nickel does not really match the bright anodizing, that's why it is just a temporary solution until I can get a new one from DC or anyone else.
Even though I knew DC was out of stock, I tried to call to place an "advance" order but they would'nt take it.
I will try to do the same with NPD, maybe they are setup to take such advance orders.
Thanks !!
