I did put fresh oil on the o ring but not on the threads, next time I will on the threads. It was tight feeling when putting it on, a little oil might help the next time.
I have a tendency of doing things with overkill strength but not on purpose. Maybe I should put the 1/2" drives down and just use 3/8" to compensate.
The stop tab was broken off my fuel filt bowl when I bought it so I just count the turns it takes to remove it & then put it back the same.
Maybe I'll remember I have a new one on the shelf one of these times & use it.
Glad yours was an easy fix.
Hey guys I ordered some Ford fuel filters from diesel filters online.com and the one that showed up that goes under the hood does not look like the one that's on the truck now. For one thing there's no provision for that little 10 mm bolt. Do you guys think these are genuine Ford filters or Chinese ripoffs?

Looks legit... this is from one of the two sets I still have (ordered 4 sets I believe when I placed the big order) from dieselfiltersonline. I have the previous gen where the secondary filter has 2 fittings on it.
So that was a simple job. Went MUCH smoother than I expected. All 3 lines came off the under-hood filter easily and that was simple to swap out. The frame mounted filter went better for me this time than it did the one other time I did it on my cousin's 2020 because I turned the water drain 1/4 turn and let it run out for about 3 minutes. Got maybe 1-2 quarts in the drain pan max. Then took the five bolts out and slid the filter down and made zero mess. Nice.
My housing cap that the cartridge filter sits in was covered in sediment and dirt under the filter. Who knows how long it's been since that was changed. I cleaned it all out best I could, wiped it all dry, then installed the new filter. Used the supplied new gasket too.
Started the truck and no leaks. I did prime it three times for 20 seconds each time before starting.

Nice... first time changing them (new to you [truck])?
They recommend 6 times I believe for my my gen truck... I did that in the past but the truck didn't immediately start which made me nervous for the CP4 pump.. Now I do at least 12 primes at 30 seconds... more like 15. Yeah I'm overkill...

Yes I just signed papers on this truck this week, so I'm catching up on maintenance that has no records of being done. Have you ever found sediment/dirt in the bottom of your filter housing when you slide the cartridge filter out? Mine had a pretty good accumulation of sediment in the bottom. I cleaned it all best I could before reinstalling the new filter. But I wonder how that got in there?? Had to come in through the diesel filler neck, right?

Mine always has a little sediment in the filter housing. Pretty sure this sediment is coming from the storage tanks.
