I got a 1995 f250 with a 460 auto. Here's the problem. It runs great on the way to work which is 15 min from home. I get ready to leave work It runs good until I let off the gas or get it to a cruising speed then it gets Jerky , backfires and just runs horrible until I give it the beans again. I've replaced the iac and fuel pressure regulator, tps sensor and giving it a tune up with a new wix fuel filter ( on the frame) anyone have any ideas.
My bet is on a vacuum leak. When you let off the gas, the ECU leans out the mixture. If its already lean due to a vacuum leak, the extra ECU leaning causes the engine to misfire.
It doesnt happen when the engine is cold because the ECU adds extra fuel to keep the engine happy when its cold.
I am thinking it is heat related and could be either of the above
Needs a code test and
I would drive it with a fuel pressure gauge taped to the windshield
I would also have a spark tester blazing (after work) (when hot) with the hood cracked and 2 long coil wires, so you can see it and hear it. I use both types at once
Drive it around slow in a residential area for 15 minutes to start with
