This guy waits 8 month for his new 2023 F150 and got a call from the dealer (my dealer) telling him that his truck is being delivered next day making the customer very happy. Day after, the Convoy Truck pulls up behind another one delivering vehicles and starts unloading by first raising the upper level to get the ones on the bottom out first. Other truck is done and leaves. Driver figures he'll back his truck up to be closer to the lot into the now empty spot and forgets to lower the upper level or didn't see the power lines. He backs right into the power lines going across the street and gets this truck caught up in the wires. Needless to say the happy customer isn't so happy anymore. Dealer don't know if Ford will rebuild his truck again with a priority 2 or if another long wait is in store for him. 20k damage and needs a new cab. Going to be shipped back to Ford. Sure hope a different driver delivers mine when the time comes..Come to think of it, i doubt he's still employed with this company anymore.
That is absolutely brutal. Hopefully Ford is able to make it right.
Only way to make it right is by putting a rush (priority 1 or 2) on building him a new one. This one will never be sold. It'll get scrapped. This happened last week and took the pic this morning. They didn't even bother to tape it up to keep the rain water out, and we had plenty of it

The flip side to that line of thought is that this delivery driver just learned a very expensive, very memorable lesson. One that he's likely never going to repeat again... new delivery driver hasn't learned that lesson.
I wouldn’t be to critical of the driver. Stuff happens and I can easily see how that happens.
As far as crushing it, that’s absolutely wasteful. Why can’t ford mark that vin and sell it at a reduced price, as is w no warranty ? Absolutely nothing wrong with powertrane and frame.
Lots a people would be inline for 50 percent off of a damaged truck like that.
I would take my chances with 50 percent off and no warranty.
It's the customers choice. If he wants a truck that one will drive just fine. It needs a trip to Dent Doctor and maybe some stage 10 paint correction.
If he had installed PPF and ceramic coating at Zeitbart before it was delivered this may have been avoidable.
Ford will not sell this vehicle and will be crushed. Government regulations prevent auto manufacturers from selling damaged vehicles. Same as what happens when trains derail and all vehicles inside get destroyed regardless of damage. Total write off. Fact that it can be fixed is besides the point. Just can not sell them as new and are not in the used car business. They wont even take the wiper blades off it. Seen it many times during my 40 years at FOMO. Another hint of it's crushing future is, that they haven't covered it up to keep rain water out, and we had plenty of that since this happened last week, because it wont make any difference. I took this picture this morning.

What did you do at FOMO (FOMOCO)for 40 years? Ford left Billions of dollars worth of Super Dutys sitting in a grass field for months and months waiting for parts. To think they would care if the interior got rained on in a truck that would need a new cab is laughable. They sell buyback vehicles all the time. They have an entire division related to repurchased vehicles.

repurchased vehicles is entirely diff from new damaged. They are not new and aren't sold as new. People walk away from their car loans all day long, and those are not being sold as new. Nothing of importance. As far as myself, not salaried employee, just in Maintenance. In charge of nothing. But you see and hear a lot, that's for sure. I knew everybody in the plant and talked with everybody from the top down regularly, and was often told things i wasn't supposed to know. Thats what happens when you're a lifer and everybody knows you too...

I'm talking about buybacks not repos. The bank owns repos and Ford owns the buybacks and they get fixed and they get resold. There is nothing stopping Ford from selling this as a manufacturer buyback which they have done for decades.

Who do the vehicles Ford finances belong to? Buybacks are used and had previous owners. Damaged in transit to dealer vehicles haven't been licensed and there's were the diff is. Ford can not sell those as new, even if they put a new cab on it, or they would have done that all along, if Government regulations would allow such. If you believe they will fix it and sell, even at a discount, that's up to you. I am not in a official position to proof otherwise. I just know the way it's always been done and what I've been told by the upper echelon at our plant when i asked why vehicles got scrapped, that i thought were entirely fixable sometimes before leaving the plant even, during my working years.
