My '77 still has it's original 5 blade fan, about 18" but there is room around the edges of the shroud opening for a 19" fan. I'm thinking of ordering a Derale # 17319 6 blade 19" rigid steel fan. I'm OK on spacers, etc. She will warm up in the drive through at Burger King as I wait ... on these hot days. I expect it'll be worse once I get my AC up and running what with the condenser trying to condense gaseous freon back to liquid freon. Nearest thing to that 7 blade 19" flex like fan off a '69 Lincoln I once used on a '67 BBC...
You can't beat the 17.5" factory Ford 7 blade flex fan.
Thank You for the idea. I scoured the net, found a still new unused one and was just 59.50, free shipping, in the Ford box ... so I grabbed it. I swear, it looks new, even factory stencil on back side. I also found a multiple listing NOS OEM Ford Motorcraft YA-159 7-blade 17.5" Cooling Fan Blade D9PE-8600-AA. | eBay ...same exact fan. Looks like the one I bought out of that wrecked / junked '69 Lincoln at Frank's Salvage yard in Long Island in the late '70s, but I'm pretty sure it was 19", It might be a hair smaller than the one up above, but blades look pretty aggressive.
I think that would be a real nice addition to your COOL project...........
I hope so. I've been wanting to do that COOL Project, but other things, and heavy rains, have sort of gotten in the way, and I am thinking a better fan won't hurt none. I'll try to get it all done at once, fan will be here this weekend. BIL has been having torn retina problems, his Wife will be away, we may be going down for a "help visit". Mowed today, hot out.
The 17-1/2" Ford 7 blade fan showed up today, it's nice. 7 blades like the 5 blades on it now, so there's 140% increase in fan blade area anyway. The one showed up here is new & unused, no bolt marks at all.
