wife’s 2021 explorer has finally (11,000 miles) started experiencing the backup camera blue screen issue. The issue is not full time.
Guessing this is one of the recall issues this vehicle is experiencing.
Interesting that the side sensors are still working when backing up.
Following the thread, My 22 F150 Lariat has a large screen issue also. Very intermittent, fails to come to camera or sometimes has no information, Ford screen only. I posted in the F150 forum. I've received no recall notice on this issue. It is so intermittent I don't see how they would ever troubleshoot it. I do consider it a very slight safety issue.
Actually received my notice of recall the same day I started this thread.
No permanent fix available yet.
dealer will update firmware/sync software are a temporary repair.
I did install the lastest sync software over the weekend.
We took our 2020 Limited in when the original recall came out about the blue / black screen and also had the recall addressed for the main link bolt on the rear axle.
After the recall was addressed I found out that a patch was downloaded. The blue / black is a rarity now but it's not 100% fixed.
And now I just received a customer satisfaction program letter (22M03) yesterday in the mail that addresses foggy cameras due to over exposure to the sun. The program is good for 10 years or 150K miles from the original in service date or until June 2024 if the vehicle has already surpassed that mileage. We just hit 32K on the clock.
Additionally, there's another one out that addresses delaminating power window switches. The chrome tips on the window switches is chipping off. We've had ours in to have all the front switches replaced.
I really do like this car, it's especially nice travelling and exceptionally good on fuel for it's size but it's already had a ton more shop time than my 2011 truck. My truck has spent on day in the shop in 12 years and 123K miles and the Explorer, well, I quit counting. The recalls and TSB's should be an embarrassment to Ford.
Hoping they have a fix for this soon as we found a great deal on new 22'. We have it locked up through the dealer but have been waiting almost 8 weeks since we put down depoit as it cant be sold until the recall is performed.
