push rods falling out

push rods falling out
i have a 1978 F250 with a 390 out of a 1968 Galaxie. this motor was rebuilt and then sat for 8 years. i put new heads, pushrods, lifters, intake(Performer), and carb. i drove about 300 miles and wrecked the truck(rear-ended). the engine then sat for about a year and a half. now running again, the pushrods keep falling out of lifters. not driving the truck, this is happening in the driveway. sometimes it runs good, the next day start it and they fall out. what can i do? 3 sets of push rods already. thanks
