Negative terminal or ground?

I picked up a high end No co battery tender/ charger. I know I only have to hook up to one battery since they are in parallel, but can I hook the negative lead to the negative terminal on the battery or do I have to ground it someplace and only hook the positive to the positive terminal ? Thanks !

Everyone always overthinks this. Electrical you have one big battery, not two. Simple terms.

Pick one battery, it does not matter which one.

Attach the rings to the battery post or clamp lugs.

Route wires neatly and secure them.

Done.

Thanks ! With all the electronics just wanted to make sure . In all my years of owning diesels I have never used a renter . Never had battery issues until my 2019 F350. Trucks are so electronic these days batteries never get a break. I want these AGMs to last on the new 23. Even the video from no co on YouTube is difficult to understand on how they say to do it with parallel batteries lol

Well it is a little more complicated than what was stated above.
The BMS(battery management system) needs to recognize that the batteries are taking a charge and for that to happen you need to be connected on the down stream side of the BMS.
Here's a little video that could explain it much better than I. The video will start where he starts to discuss charging and jumpstarting vehicles with BMS and the differing connections.

Thanks for the video ! It was actually
cool To see how the system recognizes the charge . I had only used the terminals this morning to charge BUT ….. good news is, overnight the truck will “ re learn” the state of charge on the batteries , kind of cool . At first I was thinking how do the guys who leave tenders connected all the time through the front bumper get away with it being on the wrong side of the sensor but In the end it really doesn’t matter since it relearns

When some trucks don't have the BMS videos tend to cause more stress. My 2022 6.7L is not BMS equipped. Not to mention the BIGGEST element is the "start-stop" feature on modern vehicles.

My 23 has two batteries and two alternators. Only one of the batteries has the BMS block on the ground (passenger). This makes me think that the two batteries are in parallel on the battery side of the BMS and feed the truck on the other side of the BMS.
