7.3 Godzilla Engine Failure Thread, Post Them Here
If you have had or you directly know of a 7.3 Godzilla engine failure, please post it here.
Not some YouTube video or a story of a friend of a friend’s grandmother that had a failure. Real first hand accounts of failures.
Lifter/cam failure, scored cylinder walls, broken piston skirts, plug wire failure, leaky front main seals, etc… that sort of thing, whatever you got!
There seems to be a lot of rumored failures but very few actual first hand accounts of them.
guy on the other 7.3 thread claims to be a tech for 22yr and seen some trouble with the engine. if his credentials are true he would be the guy to talk to as he would be seeing it first hand

You mean the guy who claims synthetic oil is what is killing our engines?

That takes me back to the late 1970s, when I was told synthetic oil is “too slippery” for American engines. Supposedly, the stuff will just run past your rings, valve seals, and gaskets.

As someone who was born in the late 90s, I've always thought it would be pretty cool to go back and see what the 70s were like (ya know, assuming time travel was possible). However, hearing things like this and then seeing people from back then saying America was turning into a communist country when drinking and driving was made illegal REALLY makes me wonder what the 70s were like.

That 22 year Tech went radio silent about synthetic oil being harmful on that thread when I pointed out that all performance and luxury cars only use full synthetic oil.
I spoke with my son yesterday (Tech at a Ford dealer in Central Texas) and I asked him if he's seen any 7.3's with lifter issues. Said no. He said you rarely see them in the shop. He said 6.7 upper oil pans keep him busy.
