This first happened a few weeks ago. put her in park turn the key off and. she surged, maybe 2-3k rpm then shut down. Thought it was weird 1 off thing. Today it happened twice.
In fact it happened to me a few weeks ago and to my wife twice today. She said she felt it kind of surging while she was driving and then when she put it in park it surged and then back to idle. This is a new 6.4 engine installed about a year ago with 15k miles on her
Ok, another symptom I just noticed. I was slowly rolling down the street ~20MPH and I can see the Tach gauge go from steady 1500 RPM to 1200RPM to 1700RPM. Almost like the fuel was stopping momentarily and shooting back up.
Just saying,
I think the panel is stumped. Very rare to hear a 6.4 will run with key off. According to most, they don't run with key on, LOL.
I know you have no insight from the whole globe at this point, so I'll stretch a few ideas.
Being a year old engine have you done fuel filters?
Your fuel pedal is fly by wire. Check that out.
You failed to mention anything that's been carved in. Tuner, upfitter switches, portable meth lab heater wired in, etc.
In other words, if you just married my daughter and your having a problem with her, what's the back ground I'm looking at to solve this.
Final point is have you had the truck scanned for codes. If so what do you have. If you haven't go to a ford dealer and have the real codes scanned. You can go to other places, but you may not get the read you need.
Have them do a full diagnostic. Transmission as well. This is the rarest post of a problem I.ve read.
I do want to clarify something, unfortunately my memory is not what it used to be. I thought the serge happened when I turned the truck off but my wife reminded me it was when I put it in park.
I'll have to check my last invoice. I know they did oil and filter in February but I'm not 100% sure they did fuel filters.
Apart from the flux capacitor, it does have a tune, EGR and DEF delete.
I did find a P0219 in the PCM but no SES light. Used forscan for that.
As for marrying your daughter, remember, the problem with polygamy is one too many wives. the problem with monogamy is one too many wives.
Unfortunately I got the truck like that. The EGR and DPF were removed and it was getting 30MPG on the highway. If that tells you what tune I have you're a saint.
----- So I am following this thread, as when I put my 2008 6.4L in park, with AC on... it SURGES to 1,000RPM.... then drops down... NO clue why... My AC also does not work while in PARK or not in Motion-- so I assumed it was some clutch... So staking this thread to see what you find out about ggenovez's Truck...
