Sputter

1990 F150 4.9 with manual transmission. Sputtering in 1st and 2nd as I accelerate. After that, it runs fine. Any suggestions as to what it may be? Thanks.

Step 1. Check for codes. Here's how: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...aper-clip.html
Step 2. Check your fuel pressure. Here's how: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...rd-trucks.html
If nothing is obvious, Step 3 is to check your Throttle position sensor for wear. You can use a multimeter to watch the voltage climb and drop smoothly.

I used an oscilloscope for a visual representation of a good sensor.

I actually just got an OBD1 reader that I’m going to use. Thanks for the info.
