VIN Number Help
There should be a part VIN on the top right frame rail between the shock the just under the cab.
Dose that match the other 2?
Also dose the VIN's on the truck match the title you have?
Who is your INS. Co. that cant give you a card because of the VIN?
My AMC's dont have a "full VIN" and it did throw the INS for a loop and think DMV but it's been years since I had them on the road.
There has to be a way for the INS to use that VIN.
Maybe have the DMV / state police check the VIN and document it and turn that in to the INS Co.
Also call Hagerty Ins. and see what they have to say.
I have them for my 81 F100 and a 1 year only motor bike and I know they let me drive my truck a lot.
I cant remember if it needed to be parked in a garage or not as it is when at home but I do take it to work and it sits in the parking lot for up to 14 hours.
If I drive it all week its 400 miles and I take it to stores down the road a few miles.
So cant hurt to call them.

"W36" at the beginning of an 11 digit VIN decodes to that, but in 1981 the 17 digit VIN came out. That series code still existed, but would be in the 5th, 6th & 7th spaces of the VIN.
Is there a warranty plate on the door or a white plastic certification label on the door or door jamb?
The VIN might be stamped on the frame on the passenger side about even with the alternator or front axle.
The "D" in the fourth position of an 11 digit VIN would be the engine, and that doesn't come up as an engine any truck would have.
There really is no way a 1983 has an 11 digit VIN. It's a Federal Motor Vehicle thing, and a Ford Motor Co thing, and not even the Federal Government purchasing people, let alone state or local, are going to make Ford build an '83 truck with an 11 digit VIN.
You may have quite a time straightening this out. Is your private seller still around?
Check that frame for the VIN.....
