While searching for a kit I have noticed a great gap in pricing! I have not yet measured the OEM steel thickness and seems most kits do not offer that information. CAn anyone offer some advice on which kits a junk and which are OEM replacement. I have learned over the years the ad does not necessarily tell the whole truth.
I have a 2003 Short bed
The dorman rails are likely pretty close to the factory thickness. They might coat them a little better, but think of them as factory equivalents and longevity. They're what, like 350-400 for a set?
Ebay and facebook specials are sketchy, they could be 20 gauge bent with 2x4's or they could be 10 gauge press bent, who knows unless they tell you. Seen sets for 150 and others for 400. I'd hope for 400 they're thick and beefy. Usually never coated.
