Jason, to my knowledge, the wood was only available from the factory in Flareside beds. All Styleside beds had steel floors. I have thought some of doing a wood floor in my 57 short Styleside, but that would be a long in the future project.
You say you have found kits, but are you finding kits for Styleside or Flareside? (Inquiring minds want to know)

Aloha, Tony
I found them for the styleside. I did not save any links. But my search (Google, or Bing) was specific for the styleside.
One I saw was about $2800...for Bamboo. You could pick from several types of wood.
Yes, that will have to be a ways in the future kind of project.
I got mine this way. It's pretty crappy and I wish I had all steel!
Looks like Lowes fencing slats were just thrown in after the steel was removed by the previous owner. Can't figure out why since nothing else around the fenders or sides has much rust and is pretty solid overall. My main concern is to get my 292 to stop belching oil out of the road draft tube then I will deal with stuff like this.

Pretty much just the boards are held down by each end being under the small lip at the front and back of the bed. I will look @ doing something MUCH different like a solid piece of wood or steel once I get this motor to stop burping oil!
I'd like to get rid of the metal bed in mine and go with wood. We redid the wood in the '54 my dad had when I was in high school. It's a big job but worth it, IMO.
