Welcome to FTE. There is a specific area where your question will draw the most and most correct answers. In the upper left hand corner of your screen, click on "Forums". Then scroll down to "Performance, Engines and Troubleshooting". Open that section and look for the modular engines. Click on the 4.6/5.4 section and ask your question there. The experts will be right with you.

The 2003 is a performance improved version. The 1998 is not. I don't think it would be a straight swap.
