The biggest problem is the 624 - Solenoid/circuit failure -Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) current is high. That could be a bad EPC solenoid, but most likely is a damaged wire between the PCM and the solenoid. Code 637 is TOT sensor is/was high or open. This is the same problem in a different circuit. Ignore the 628 for now. It may go away when the other two codes are fixed.
Thank you guys! I checked plug and wires, I did not see any damage. I did not look very careful because the plug to the trany was not locked in by the plastic clips and it slid up easy. So I cleaded both ends and fully engaged plug, cleared codes, then drove about 50 milers and checked codes. 628 was the only code
Since the 628 code reappeared I take it as a legitimate code. It means that slip was detected when the torque converter should be locked.
If the converter is really slipping it will discolor the front of the torque converter. Take the dust cover off of the bottom/front of the transmission bellhousing. Look at the front of the torque converter Is it the same color as the rest of the converter, or has it been blued? If there is bluing, the converter is slipping and needs to be replaced.
Hi Mark, hope you are still out there. I just checked the front of the converter and it looks the same as the rest of the converter. I should have also mentioned that a random, or as it seems to me, the van slip out of gear and then back into gear. this happens around 40mph +. But it can go months without doing it and then it may do it twice in one trip. I cleared the codes again and later checked them and got the 628 again. Thanks for your help. I am at a loss here.
The random neutral is a bad MLPS (Manual Lever Position Sensor.) Replace it. It is located on the driver's side of the trans where the shift cable attaches. It's the part with the wiring harness. It's possible that this is also causing the 628 code. After it's replaced see if the code comes back.
