Well, I'm new here...thought I could find some nice info. Last saturday arrived a 1942 Ford Pickup. My dad has been talking about restoring an old truck for years and I never thought he would actually do it! So this will be our project. It has a flathead v8 (i think from '47 or something..) It's in pretty good condition considering its over 60 years old- it had a 1970's restoration. The car runs and drives well, but things like the brakes, etc need work. Needs a new paint job and some work with rust (though you cant tell that well in the pics) new wheels (well original wheels), tires...and a new cab floorboard- the old one rusted out.... etc, etc, etc. However, we ordered a new sheet metal floor, which arrived today. . This will be an original restoration, and not a hot rod job...anyways, Ill stop ranting, here are some pics: http://www.spymac.com/gallery/data/5...C01108-med.jpg http://www.spymac.com/gallery/data/5...C01116-med.jpg http://www.spymac.com/gallery/data/5...C01118-med.jpg http://www.spymac.com/gallery/data/5...C01111-med.jpg http://www.spymac.com/gallery/data/5...C01121-med.jpg

by the way, i could use some info on this truck....is it rare or common? etc
thanks!
did some stuff already- changed the oil- it was terrible! looks like the pressure is back up too (its the one gauge that works )
also cleaned off the wheels and discovered that the outer part is actually chrome...or was chrome at one point haha. still has some nice shine despite the rust, although they are very ugly.
the car is going in this weekend to get the brakes done and to have a new floor welded in...anyone have any idea how much this will cost (we already bought the sheetmetal for this specific floor)?
once this stuff is done, it will be driveable for the time being.
Just went through the links and am now sitting here drooling all over myself. I would just about kill to find a truck like that. I have been looking for a while. Hummmmmmm would you consider letting her go? If ya ever do, just let me know, I'll take vacation, quit, or just bail out to get there.
wow, thats a nice old classic, I didnt think you could find one left all original anymore. I hope you can find some original wheels for it. I cant believe even the dash was left original and intact. Good find ! have fun on the restore!
