Having Electrical Issues
Hello All,
I'm having some weird electrical issues all of the sudden on my2001 Excursion 6.8L 2WD. The power windows failed so I checked voltage at the switch and was getting voltage so I replaced the switches. That didn't fix it. Since then the following things have / are happening and I'm not sure where to start.
When the door is open and the key is on we have rapid clicking sounds like a relay rapidly relaying. Video Here
I get the same click when pressing the window switches. Video Here:
The overhead display is severely dimmed and we can't see it.
Trailer wiring harness has stopped working.
My wife says random warning lights pop up while driving but I haven't seen that yet.
Any idea where to start this rabbit hole?

replace battery cables regardless of their condition
i had some symptoms you describe. like windows, overhead reader thing, sometimes it didn't want to start n there would be no electronics at all when turn key, it was intermittent tho. n eventually battery cable corroded all the way through, couldn't even jump it from the battery at that point.
also turned out i had a bad alternator so did alternator and serp belt while was there

i followed the sizing book in Napa auto parts because i had to have it. i have wondered since if i could have used bigger cables than that without any ill effects? 🤔
