Ok, so I've read a bunch of threads recently on batteries being replaced under warranty. Below are pics of my batteries. I've always considered this normal and cleaned it up with hot water and baking soda but I am wondering if this would be a warranty replacement of my batteries? I know I can go to dealership and ask, but I don't want to waste time if it's considered normal. Batteries are nearly 3 yrs old and warranty has about 3000 km's left on it so would need to do this soon.
Dealerships have a lot of discretion for things like this. They might, and they might not. Like you, I would be hesitant to make a special trip to find out. But if you have to take the truck in for any other reason, I would ask about this. If that is not going to be very soon, I'd clean it again, and show the photos if you have a future visit.
Appears to be just lack a maintenance with the corrosion showing after 3 years. Agreed with comment above if it test good why would they replace?
Fair enough about the test results and whether the dealer would replace.
I'm wondering what you mean by lack of maintenance? I clean them up every 4-6 months using baking soda and hot water to remove corrosion) and check the levels (which have always been good) and the terminals are sprayed with terminal protector.
Is there something I'm missing about battery maintenance?
I guess I would ask why the batteries outgas as much.
I've had 2 F series trucks and never seen any acid on the tops. It reminds me of cars in the 70's.
Ps, never use baking soda... Just water, all you need to get a tiny amount to seep in and the batteries are toast.
But its cool to see the fizzing 🫣

I've always used distilled water and baking soda and never had a problem going back 35 years. I guess Ford and other manufacturers will have to change the owner manual on battery maintenance.
The problem is these Motorcraft batteries are not a true maintenance free battery. Get a real maintenance free battery and the corrosion crap will end.
Why get a new crap battery under warranty? Bite the bullet and put a couple AGM batteries in. No more leaks or problems. I suggest Odyssey brand or something similar
Yup...my batteries looked like yours. Dealer refused to replace them. They just wiped them down and said "It's normal"
I replaced mine with Interstate AGMs
I had my drivers side battery, all hold down hardware and the battery mat replaced on my super duty a little over a week ago under warranty, for just what your picture shows.
Well, it turns out I have to take it in for an unrelated warranty matter later this week (seized caliper slide pins - I will start a separate thread for some questions on this too if I can't find the answers via search) so I will ask them about this while it's there. If it's not covered, then I will will go the AGM route sooner rather than later. My warranty will be up next month so I may as well give it a shot.

The dealer replaced one of my 2 batteries on my 2019 under warranty due to leaking on top. They also replaced the hold down bracket tat was corroded.
