I upgraded my old 72 F250 4x4 to power steering 8 years ago. I bought the PS box off Evilbay and think it is either a ' 78 or '79, but not sure anymore. My issue now is failing drag link ends. The one for the control arm on my hub I can find, but the one for the pitman arm has a larger taper than the ones I have found in parts stores and on the internet.
The pitman arm that came with the PS box has a larger taper hole and I need to find a tie rod end with a larger taper than these measurements. Small part of the taper is 0.6305 and the large part of the taper is 0.7060. These are measurements off the ones that are at least one size too small.
What year and for what are you ordering the pitman arm tie rod for?
If you think the box is from a 78 or 79 if you have not 78/9 250 4x4 w/power steering is what I would look at.
BTW I have found on non-Ford's the PS pitman arms took a larger tie rod.
