83 F-150 Bed replacement

Since I’ve acquired my 83 F-150 I’ve been looking into replacing the bed, as it now runs great and the cab and front end have little to no damage or rust. But the bed on the other hand is far beyond repair and missing large sections due to rust. I have been looking for a 80-86 in fields or for sale for parts but have had no luck. Is there any other years in which the box would fit? I was looking at a 90 and they look very similar but I’m not too versed in that knowledge, I’m pretty new to this. And if no other years will fit does anyone have suggestions on where I could find parts? If not I may just go the flat bed route.

I guess you are looking for a style side bed and not a flare side, cant tell by avatar.
If the body line of the 90 line up, I am not up on the later years, then the lines are the same like you saw but ...........

Look at the wheel openings between yours and the later.
IIIRC yours are kind of flat at the top of the opening and the later are round.
Think the tail light open is just a little different but can swap lights I believe.
Others have done the swap with the different wheel openings and others dont really see it.

Just how bad is yours?
Is it the sides that are bad or the floor or?

sides are pretty beaten and dented, and on the rear end bottom near where it meets the bumper they’re completely rusted out and missing big bites on both side, along with some rust holes in the front of the bed near the cab. The inside of the bed looks as though it’s been patched in a place or two and it’s not too terrible in there, just on the bottom of the outside near the front in back. Also to add on to it, there’s no tailgate. That’s been rigged up with wood and door latches, so a whole replacement would be ideal if I can find one.

A 1987 thru 1996 f150 bed will fit. On the f250/350 those beds are the same also from 1987 thru 1998. The only difference you will notice is the top of the wheel openings like was mentioned.

Here is a 1980-1986 bed side. Look at the top of the wheel opening.

Here is the 87-up bedside. see the top of the wheel opening difference?

Thank you that will make finding one much easier, there’s plenty of 87-91 f150s sitting in fields around here with little to no rust on them so that’ll be perfect. The difference in wheel openings isn’t a big deal, I’d rather have that then rust holes.
