Can anyone compare these to the Goodyear Duratrac? I like everything about the Duratrac except the tire noise especially as they get more miles.
There is a brand new Goodyear Duratrac RT that just was released. It's more of an all-terrain instead of a mud-terrain, so it looks to be quieter than the original.
I am in the same .. Boat… pulling the plug on some.. 295/65-20 BF GOODRICH A/T ,
had the Toyo AT3 on my last truck .. they weren’t that bad of a tire .. did well in the snow but in the rain.. they were a little squirrely..
Going with something different.. this time around.. We will see …
Goodforayear Duratrac tires are horrible in foul weather, get very loud after a couple of rotations, and sometimes can be hard to balance. They do pull hard off road, but on road they are miserable.
Toyo/Nitto tires often use hard durometer rubber compounds that are good for a lot of miles but not for traction. They slip and slide in the rain pretty bad. I wouldn't even use them in snow.
Aside from that most brands are making pretty good A/T tires these days. Falken is hands down the best, but Cooper and some others make good tires too.
I see them on Tire Rack. Michelin also added a 2nd gen defender ms2, but in fewer sizes. I tried those Agilis quite a few years ago when my local Michelin shop was pushing them in place of Defender, but they were not as good, the dealer later agreed.

They don't show up for my tire size: 275/70R18. I get the Agilis and LTX A/T 2's. The Agilis are the only highway Michelin that shows up for me.

Yeah that's strange on Tire Rack. I have found the discount tire search to be easier for me when shopping around. Maybe your local shop can source them. I see that size on discount:
The Michelin tires work well for me as an all around tire. I have had better snow/ice tires, better towing and hauling tires, and better wet weather tires, but not in one tire.
Any recommendations for those of us who don't need a A/T tire? Highway/pavement only LT tire? I was thinking the Michelin LTX A/T 2?
That new Defender M/S2 looks very promising and the side profile looks a little more “M/S”. I have ran the michelin AT2, defender, and the LTX M/S2 (little different factory equipment tire, but very similar). All good but the Defender and LTX required less rotating and balancing, they wore better.
You should be able to make it a good 2 oil changes per rotation on your truck with the Defender or LTX. You should be able to get 40-50k out of them, maybe more if you are rotating more often.
I am also currently having really good luck with the Yokohama GO15. Quiet and have the ice rating (even though I dont need that), really mild looking but not mundane. Decent price, almost don’t want to let the secret out . Haven’t done enough miles to know life.
I recently switched from the stock GY Wranglers to Falken Wildpeak AT3W and so far I am impressed. Definitely better in the wet and I suspect snow performance will also be much better. I am hoping for some better mileage out of them as I only got about 40k miles out of the GYs. Noise level is about the same.
