I have been chasing sons truck for a couple weeks in my spare time. Started with zero lights, new headlight switch fixed some intermittently, new hi/lo switch fixed headlights but I couldn't get instrument lights. Finally noticed the new headlight switch resistor wasn't making contact. I dont know whether to feel successful or angry?

Reason: spelling
At least you found the problem that ='s success. Do not be mad, where did you get the switch from? Cheap parts usually ='s cheap performance. When replacing parts always try to MOC it (maintenance operational check), before you button it all back up.
And the quote of the day from a old parts guy legend..."Quality of parts are like oats. There are new oats and used oats. New oats can be bought at feed stores, used oats can be found out on the road, after the horse passes by."
And I add in...and some times you pay new oats prices and get used oats parts.
