Background, trailers "charge" wire stopped working and the trailers run lites.
Used the Owners manual to find a fuse under the hood to fix the trailer run lites and it appears "someone had a problem with the "trailer charge " before and ran "newish" fused line to the plug in the rear. FIXED
Meanwhile, been doing KOKO (key on key off) while checking the trailer hook up for signals ect and noticed, when i crawled in the seat, there was nothing functioning in the cluster. I've check all the listed "instrument fuses" and all appear GOOD.
Is there a relay that initiates the dash cluster? The reason I ask, there are fuses that show no power going to them.
Oh Ya: Engine starts and runs, goes into gear, all other lights work.
here I am without a clue, Murphys law gets me all the time
I read these articles and there was a suggestion to go to Ford Dealership and acquire a wiring diagram.
Would be a good idea to either have the vehicle with you or the VIN
try again tomorrow
went thru the forums and will try the headlight on for a short to see if dash cluster returns
it said something also about change a weak relay. Hell, I don't know what relay it is and still waiting on a reply from Fords' parts department to determine that
also, HOW DO YOU DETERMINE IF A RELAY IS WEAK, HOW DOES ONE GO ABOUT TESTING A RELAY..... THEY AINT CHEAP ANYMORE TO JUST REPLACE THEM ALL
THANKS MAY THE FORCES BE WITH YOU AND READ YOUR DASH CLUSTER
Swapping a questionable relay with a known good one is an easy way to troubleshoot relays. Say you have a fuel pump issue. Swap the fuel pump relay with the horn relay (if compatible). If the fuel.pump works now but the horn doesn't, you have found the bad relay.
Well the unit went into limp mode with error (minor) lost contact with IPC.
All you ford guys tell me if I should do any other than
test power leads
plug connections
recharge batteries
Or, replace the module which requires program input.
