Ouch...

I guess they found the payload limit of that F350....

Reports are that the driver crawled out of the window and is OK.

That's a different way to test your payload!

Close call. Somebody is going to be in trouble after the safety investigation is done. Mining is a dangerous operation.

I worked for a coal mining company for a few years. That's going to make good training meeting content.

Another thing, why in the hell do none of the pickups have tall marker poles? I've never seen them.

A 15 foot fiberglass rod with a neon flag would prevent at least some of these crushings.

The left rear door handle may be reusable.

None of this big equipment has great operator visibility or the ability to stop quickly. If you've ever been in the cab of a big rock truck or wheel loader you'd see that a 15' flag would hardly reach operator eye level. The operators of the ancillary equipment have to be super aware of what they're doing. Look up a 994 Cat loader if you have time. I've been in the cab of one of those, equipped with what was an up to date (at the time) camera system. The operators field of vision is good looking towards the loader bucket area, but not so good to the sides and rear. The deck outside the cab had to be close to 12' or so off the ground. This was in a cleaning plant, and the loader was used to load out tri-axle trucks. A loaded tri-axle dump truck probably weighs 75,000+. Once, a loaded tri-axle tried to cut behind the loader while it was backing up. The loader knocked the 75k lb+ tri-axle right onto its side. Big equipment can be scary stuff.

Good to hear there were no injuries. Here is a picture next to a non smashed Super Duty, my personal truck and my work truck, if I remember correctly they were a Caterpillar 785. I think this picture was from 2011, not in that line of work anymore.

You're right about the equipment, but for none of these pickups to have markers, that's crazy. The view radius is vastly improved with any marker.
