Angry Speakers cutting out

When I hit a bump or someone slams the left passenger door some or all of my speakers cut out and I have to turn my radio way up for them to come back on. What can I do?

Angry Same problem with speakers cutting out

I have the same problem with the speakers cutting out. Did anyone send a solution? If so, would you forward it to me?

Thanks,

Charley

I dont know about the bump part but I did have an issue where speakers would cut out intermittently. Turned out some water had slipped into the door and only the wires, essentially shorting it out. Cleaned and dried them and all was well. Id suggest just inspecting the connections for anything unusual. Also might want to pull the head unit to verify the harness is seated tight.

Anyone get a handle on this problem yet? I've got the same issue in my 97' 4dr AWD Explorer - and it's driving me nuts. I've had the speakers out of the doors - all contacts are solid. I removed the system from the dash and checked the harnesses - they are all connected and snug. Yet when it feels like it, generally when I hit a bump, one or more speakers will cut out - and another bump may or may not bring some back. Strange - hopefully someone has some help! Thanks.

I check every thing that FishGuy did and it is still cutting out...I didn't check the factory amp connections. I think the amp is located in the back under the interior covering next to the rear right wheel haul. Check that...I will do the same and let you know.

If you cant find any loose wires or bad connections i think it may be the head unit itself. I had a vehicle awhile back, (not ford) that did this same thing. Turned out that the amplifier in the head unit itself was going bad. Installed an aftermarket unit and all was well.

I have a 97 Explorer V8 AWD and experiencing the same problem when driving on the freeway and hit intermittent bumps. It's possible the head unit is going bad as I have checked all connections and everything seems to visually okay. The rain culprit was suspected since we've had quite a bit of rain lately but it wasn't the case.
My speakers don't actually go completely dead but sounds more like someone adjusting the rear right, front right fader controls. The volume seems to fade quietly then the next bump gets it back at the previous volume level. What gives??

You may want to check this site: www.shareamemory.com/radio
I sent the original post to the proprietor of this site, Duane Harrsion. I used him to fix my display and I highly recommended his service. His response was:

"The volume control could be a function of the volume encoder that I have in the fix to replace...it could also be a result of the front display not being properly soldered (the pins of the display causing a short to make the radio act up). I've seen both of these problems and explain the repair in the fix. I've seen a lot of funny actions of the radio when the volume control is going bad, so I would suspect that may be the case."

Good luck,

Mason
