'83 F-150, basic cab, long bed. Today I noticed the manual crank windows are somewhat stiff from the truck sitting. How/where and what do you recommend to lube/free them up?
I'd really like to avoid replacing parts yet, I want to drive it!

WD40 will get you going right away. It's good for creeping into small areas like the crank bushings. But for a longer lasting lube, especially on the exposed slides and gears, a spray lithium grease is best. You can use the grease on the crank handle bushings, but it may take a little while for it to make it's way in.
In my limited experience, there are two places where the friction builds up: the window track and the regulator track where the little plastic square slides forward and aft. Grease the regulator well with lithium grease as previously stated. Make sure the glass is sliding smoothly: quick easy check for that is that there is little force required to lower the window...( gravity does most of the work.)
I got brave and decided to take my truck for its first trip out of the driveway since it was delivered on a rollback. It's been about 13 years since I had driven a standard shift. Only stalled it once. Either my legs are really weak(I'm an old bugger!), or the clutch needs adjusting. The 351W ran pretty good except when I lugged it down on a hill and missed the proper downshift point. That's when I stalled it. I got it running and the trip back home was un eventfull, even if I didn't get out of 2nd gear. Even the brakes worked pretty good, even though the rear need bleeding... No people, livestock, or wild animals were injured as I live in the country, but the narrow road I live on made the trip interesting trying to keep the big thing on the road. The steering is loose and wanders a bit, so that is going to need investigating. Oh well, I'll be busy a while longer. That and I'm used to driving a small sedan.
Can't wait to make a dump run or go get some lumber!
