Been reseaching the heck out of possible level kits (spring hanger types) and there is quite a variety - as well as quite a range in prices. I've ran through most of the posts here as well as the FAQ site but haven't seen too much on the Rough Country kit so... I was wondering... has anyone installed the Rough Country 2" level kit on their 250 Super duty? I'm just looking to go to 285's or 295's and a leveled look.
In any case, any opinions on this topic would be greatly appreciated (despite the fact that the topic has been discussed at length). Thanks, Kevin
I also researched this quite a bit, and decided to pass on add-a-leafs.
i would go with a simeple shackle kit, and new shocks (something the sd needs anway)
i saw some shackles on ebay for 125...although i am not sure of the strength, maybe someone who has purchased them could chime in???
i would also like to toss about 2.5-3" in the front, and then some 315/70's
but, more than likely, ill wear these stock tires out, and replace em with 285's and no lift next summer....this truck is anyhting but a wheeler' !!!
I have the Rough Country 3.5 x 1 leveling kit on mine (see gallery)
Note 500lbs in rear for snow traction. It came with new front springs and add a leaf rear. Also can with tract bar hanger. I liked the kit, install was painless. The front end alignment went very well. I put 315/70-16 tires on 16x10 rims. The tires do not rub exept in extreme conditions. Then they rub on the lower plastic bumper cover. I could fix this by spacing out the bumper 1/4". I will fix that some day. (lift kit has be on 2 years now)
The kit came with shocks also. real POS's. All the shocks were leaking in less than A year. I replaced them with Edelbrock IAS.
I love these shocks. The ride is much better now

I think Fabtech has the best leveling kit by the spring hangers. You retain your stock springs and the stock ride. The kit comes with everything you need.
Have you looked into the "X" springs? Ford uses a letter code for the front leafs. The X springs are the ones that are on trucks with the snow plow package. I've seen a post or two where it's been said that the X springs will level the truck. Anyone else hear same? Or know anyone who has the installed the X spring. I know the trucks with plows on have em, just looking to hear from someone who put em on. Would like their opinion if it did level the truck out.
The spring hanger lifts are great for not changing your ride but still getting some lift out of it. My friend put add-a-leaves on his PSD and it only lifted it a little over and inch, but made it ride a lot rougher. NOT worth it to me for that little bit of lift.
