Power Locks

OK I have looked like crazy
and not even in my manual, does it show just how the power flows through the power lock switches. For that matter, I dont even have a decent diagram of that circuit. Can anyone tell me just where I might get one of these?
Thanks!

Have you tried a haynes manuel? There electrical diagrams are very nice.

yep thats the manual that I have. the diagram just shows the very basics. Doesnt help me much. I replaced the switches and now I have to troubleshoot what is going on with the wiring. Locks only work to unlock.

Do they only do this on one side or both? If they are wired anything like my 93 then the power going to the switch is always hot and depending on how you flip the switch it will close the circut in either the open or lock postion.

If your switches are like mine then they can be reversed and you can see if this is a problem with them getting the signal or not.

The only part that works is unlock. And that is the passenger side only, and when you push it to the LOCK side. the switches are reversible to either side and to the direction the plug in. I have power going in to the switch and when I apply power to the lock side, there is power going away from the switch but nothing happens to any of the locks. Not even a little bit. I find it hard to beleive that the actuators are bad since they still work to the unlock side. I just need to get something showing where the power flows so that I can chase it down that way. For all I know at this point, the 12V is coming into the wrong pin and I need to rewire the doors.

The switches ground both motor wires when they're not pushed. When one switch is pushed, it ungrounds one wire and sends power to it. Since the other wire is still grounded, the circuit is complete and the lock motor spins. If one of the switches isn't grounding one of the wires, then the locks would only work in one direction.

The easiest diagrams to read are in the EVTM. I don't have that circuit scanned, but I do have the regular wiring diagram for a '92 truck in the Diagrams photo album in my signature link. It's the 5th one across in the 9th row down, but it's not very easy to read.
