License plate light

I'm replacing my license plate marker lights and the replacements I bought only have the hot wire--no ground. I suspect the ground (should) works because the fixtures touch the frame of the truck for ground. However, my truck is too rusted to pick up the ground from the frame. Any suggestions?

have you tried taking one of the bumper bolts out and grinding a bare spot on the frame and on the bumper bracket? If you do that and clean up the bolt/washer/nut it should provide ground from the frame to the bumper. If that doesn't work, worst case you would have to run a ground wire from the body to the license plate light housing.

The lights i used from Bronco Graveyard use the bumper as a ground. I sanded an area down to bare metal and the light house screwed down and pressed into that metal. It’s working so far. If you’re paranoid you could solder a ground lead to the casing but that’s unnecessary.
