Worth noting the 2017+ SDs will automatically high idle when needed based on temperature. But I get that some people like to be able to force high idle.
I've got this kit on my '22 450. All plug and play and works like a charm. I have a SwitchPro controller I use for other things so I could have wired it to that, but I like the way I can easily control what RPM's i want the high idle to run at with this kit.
I did this on my 2022 but my 2024 I’m just going to bite the bullet and buy BD Diesels kit for $110. Then I can dial it up from 900-3000 RPM rather than just a fixed RPM from the resistor
I’ve installed this with about 1500RPM set. Are there any discussions out there about starting the engine in cold temps with that high of RPM? I’m learning and I’m under the impression that oil isn’t pumped in the right places until several seconds after starting. Again, I'm brand new to the diesel world and watched a video from Dave’s Auto Center and was curious about a high RMP immediately after starting. Love the kit though. Works like a charm and heats up the cabin much faster.
Can anyone give a better description of the connector location? Or a link to the full builders guide? I’ve looked all over the passengers footwell area and can’t find it. Also, there are several wires with various pto labels on them in the bundle with my aux switches under the hood. Does anyone know if these could be used somehow? There is no vref or rpm so I’m not sure. Pic for reference of what I’m talking about
It's behind the glove box way up high against the side wall. Looks like this. You'll have to do some digging and have a flashlight for sure.
