I have an F350 SRW 4x4 with 6.7 diesel. 80% of all my miles are towing my 8000# camper all over US and Canada. Plenty of non paved roads. I now have 22000 miles and I notice my rears are wearing much faster than front. I just rotated them. It now has A/T Wranglers. May need to change them by next year. What would you guys go with? How many miles is expected from this chassis? I realize there are a lot of variables...just getting some opinions. Thanks
You should be rotating tires every 5000 miles to get the most life from them. I buy tires from shops that offer free rotation and balancing services so all I have to do is set aside an hour to wait.
I think the best wearing tire for a use like yours is probably the Michelin LTX AT. Similar in tread to your current tires but known to last longer. You should be able to get 40-50k miles from a set of properly cared for tires on these trucks.
I have the OEM Wranglers. I'm a bit disappointed at how fast they wear even though I rotate them every 5,000 miles. I tried out a set of Michelin LTX AT tires but the towing experience was horrible. Maybe I got a bad batch of tires but when I switched back to the Wranglers in the middle of that trip the towing was back to normal. The Michelins did seem to perform a bit better in the snow.
I just had a set of Michelin Defenders installed on my F-250 coming from the factory Wranglers. I got 50K out of the OEM tires but wanted more of a highway tire. The Defenders are smooth and quiet but do throw a lot of rocks. I haven't towed with them yet but hopefully soon.
You need to rotate them every oil change. Balance them every 3 oil changes or so or maybe when you do your fuel filters.
What I would do is run it to around 30k and swap in the spare and one new tire on your next rotation. Maybe a little more miles to get some $ out of them.
Nothing significantly wrong with those tires but I would probably go to a cooper AT3 or something next in stock size.
I am right at 20k on my AT Wranglers in my 6.7. I noticed in the last 5k miles they seemed to start wearing faster. I do rotate them myself every 5k miles. I also have Centramatics installed, so they stay balanced, and all 4 are wearing evenly. But, at this point I am thinking I may need to replace them closer to 30k rather than the 40k I was hoping for. Of course the extra weight of the 6.7 will wear them down faster than the gas motors, but I am hoping to at least make it to 30k. I was/am still a bit torn between the DuraTracs like on the Tremors, and the Falken Wildpeak's. I am also a bit torn between staying with the 33" tire or going to a 35" tire... I guess I will have to figure it out in the next 10k or so miles though, but right now I am leaning more towards the 35" Wildpeaks!
I've had great luck with Firestone Destination XTs.
The rears wear way faster than the fronts (for obvious reasons). I rotate mine very 7500 miles and can get over 50,000 miles on a set.

This has been my experience. I just replaced my LTX AT's at about 48,000 on our F250. We spend most of the summer on USFS dirt and gravel roads towing our travel trailer to fishing spots and the Michelin's are great for that. Truck is also used to tow a jet boat, and in snow, and the tires are great.
Glad you posted.
I am definitely in the same boat when towing heavy with my 5th wheel with my OE Wranglers. First set of Wranglers lasted 25k (OEM, so soft). I bought a new exact same set at Discount and ran about 30k before being shot, and I had a blowout on the rear right while towing which was costly. I'm at 57k miles now and need tires.
Trying to figure out what to try next. The new Nitto Recon Grappler looks interesting.
If you don't know tire weight ratings, start there. the OE are 125 Rating (3640lbs) https://www.tiresplus.com/tires/tire...d-index-chart/
I am looking to go to 129, but you do have to change size - all 275/70/18 seem to be 125.
I'm looking at either 285/75/R18 - Stock Tremor size, which are all 129 Rating, OR 295/70/R18 seems to also be 129.
The original GY Wranglers on my 2020 F350 were shot at 28K miles. The weight of the fifth wheel did them in fast. I'm very happy with my Michelin Defenders LTX. They are more of a highway/All season tire then an A/T tire. Very quiet and comfortable. Much less wear and better traction especially wet roads. I don't do much off road so I can't comment on that. They seem to work fine in the snow even though they don't appear to be very aggressive. I would buy them again.
I have 25k on my factory Goodyear Wranglers, they still have about half tread left but they are probably the worst AT tire I've ever used. Several times I've had to engage 4wd on wet grass to get the thing moving. Aside from that, the winter performance of these tires is abysmal, even when new.
When I replace these tires, I'm probably going with Nitto Terra or Ridge Grapplers. I have each of those on another truck and have been very happy with them.
