Anyone try and install the factory putco in channel rain guards and even after siting for a few days in the warm sun still have a problem with window hitting edge of guard and not able to fully close.
I think that is the experience of most people. On 90+ days they close great if its cold out forget about it. I left them sit over the weekend when I installed them and the drivers window is the only one that catches.
I had the same problem. And to be fair, when the guy at the parts department and I looked it up, we specifically ordered the ones that stick on rather than install into the channel... however, the in channel visors are what shipped... So, rather than dealing with returning them, I installed them. From the get go, the drivers side always hit. I constantly had to push the back corner out with my finger as the window was coming up to keep it from hitting the visor and going back down. Finally, after a few months, the corner broke off where I had been pushing it out. I used a file to smooth the break out and as it turns out, it works perfect now. Then almost immediately the passenger side started doing it, and within about a week or so, it broke off too. Now they both work fine. However, they have not aged well either... Admittedly, I haven't used any kind of plastic protector on them, but I wash my truck often, and make sure to wash them too. They just look kind of blah now... They also seem to feel a little flimsy too... I don't anticipate these lasting all that much longer, at which time I will go with another brand, such as the Weathertec ones. The only reason I have these specifically is because I wanted to use the FP points on something, so I got a set of these and on the rear wheel well liners. I definitely wouldn't order them again though.
Broken corner on Ford in Chanel visors... but the work better now...
My Putco in channel ones work perfect for years, Hope you used the in channel guides that come in the box, They insert in the rubber window Channel for when the window reaches the visor. They're 2" long shaped like a u channel and spread the rubber weather strip open wider for the glass to go up. Call them and they will send them to you free.
Bigger one is for front windows , Smaller one is for rear windows
Weather tech only worked when I had putco send me some more and I used with the weather tech

That's good to know, but I definitely didn't have anything like that in the box I got from Ford. And I'm about 99% sure that they weren't mentioned in the installation instructions... yeah, I actually read them! But if they were mentioned I would have went looking for them. Of course now that my corners are broke, they most likely wouldn't help anyway.
Yea I get mine direct from putco and the last set I got didn't have them in the box, I had to call them and they sent them to me. Nothing in the Instructions either. They do work. I bought a set of weather Tech ones and had a problem bouncing back used the guides and been perfect since, Never left them rolled up for 48 hours worked ever since hot or cold. They were my answer ever since on all my trucks
Those in channels look so much nicer than stick on
This! The stick on ones look like cheap plastic dog crap IMO. I haven't ran these since I had them on my F150 years ago, I don't have a reason to but if I did I'd definitely opt for the in channel ones as well.

Feel the opposite. The in channel ones look cheap to me and the stick on ones are much more sleek and lower profile. Plus there seem to be so many more problems with the in channel ones compared to the over the window ones.
The in-channel rain guards work great if you file down the driver's rear corner so the window can just glide over it. That is the only spot on all of mine that caught. I installed them according to the instructions except it was only in the 60s during the day and the 30s at night but it was the rainy season and I wanted them on my truck instead of waiting for the weather to warm up into the 80s or 90s.

I have the Ford branded in channel visors and they are pretty low profile. I know that there are some that are even lower, but no way a stick on will be lower profile than these. I agree with the issues though...

Yep, when the corners on mine broke from having to push them out so many times so the windows could go up I ended up taking a file to it... now they work just fine. However, it seems like those clips posted above may have solved this from the get go, however, for whatever reason, some companies (IME the Ford brand) don't include them, or even mention them in the instructions.
