we had a wedding we went to Saturday also. Didn’t get home until midnight or so and got to bed after 1am. Then up at 4am to go to the airport for a flight out at 6:15am and flew to Washington state for a conference this week. Went by somewhat quickly but tired, especially since 3 hr time difference
at least she survived. What happened that caused it and happened to her?
She is very lucky to be alive. Her doctors have told her that very few people survive this type of trauma. She and her boyrfriend borrowed two of my sleds and the four of us headed out for the day. Our friend had little experience on a sled. She had rode when she was younger but nothing recently. Everything was going great till we stopped for gas. After we put in gas, she went to head back to the trail and when her sled hit the street pavement there was no snow on the street and her carbides wouldn't bite in of course. She then panicked and pinned the throttle. She launched across the street into a parked car. When she flew off the sled her leg caught the brake fluid housing on the handlebar and it tore open her leg severing her femoral vein. She nearly bled out on the street. She lost six units of blood laying there. She was airlifted out. She also had a fracture in her lower back and messed her thumb up as well. Her leg has not been healing well and has had close to a dozen surgeries so far with more to come including one tomorrow. There is a lot more I could tell and expalin about her injuries but I would be typing forever. That is the jist of it anyway.
